I'll "third" it.  I procrastinated learning the autotools until I found
the book.  If the book were still not out, I probably would still have
the autotools on my back burner.  And, though the book isn't perfect,
the authors accept corrections and seem to incorporate them quickly into
the online version of the book.

It really doesn't get much better than this, for specialized topics like
the autotools.
