look and feel

Anuradha,

on the "look and feel". My experience with user interface design is
quite limited. The knowledge I do have is from a course in university
and from using several different font editors, all of them bitmap
font editors. In my opinion we should try to make the user interface
as indipendent of the actual application as possible. I've heard
about the model/view/controller paradigm, but have little idea how to
go about implementing such a paradigm. When I have some time I'll
have a look at some other apps that may do something like this or ask
the question on gtk-list.

It is a bit of a dilemma, to have to do the "look and feel" right
the first time. Without something usable, there will not be much
feedback, and without feedback, whatever we do will be a best guess.
So, what I will do now is try to explain the font drawing process and
how it works for me, which I believe will be how many other would do
it if they could not work from hand-drawn or vector-drawn beginnings.

I'll put it on a little text document so that we can re-use this to
refer to it and perhaps as a beginning of a user guide at some stage.

Erlend.
