The syslogd in the inetutils package can be configured to be run as a user
(it will not listen to /dev/log etc).  I don't know how to make logger
(or anybody else) to
talk to it, maybe we need some option for that.

The idea is that you run your own log daemon, rather than making the
system logger divert the user messages.
