Hello,
please forgive me that I answer to my own mail:

I'm no longer sure about this. Taken from another angle:
The --build patch is ready. It can be accepted without any work.
It cannot be made the default _now_, but it'll become the default after
one or two years.
So why did that silly Kasal asked Akim to improve the old mode that will
soon become obsolete?
But:
Perhaps improving the old mode would make it closer to --build, so the
script texi2dvi would be shorter. But is it worth the extra work?
I cannot decide which of the presented opinions is the right one.
But I hope they will help others to form their opinion.
Perhaps I just speak too quickly and too much.
Luckily, I'll be offline Jun 7 - Jun 21.
Have a nice month,
Stepan asal
