Hello,
it seems to be a hot topic in these days, the desktop. As we discuss this on
this list from time to time with no visible result so far, I think we should
finally make the step and make some effort towards the GNUstep desktop...
I believe that w/o providing a complete desktop solution GNUstep will never
have the chance to become "GNUSTEP/linux 1.0" - and honestly, this is why I
am mainly interested in the project, and I think I am not the only one [1].
We need to give 'newbies' an easier way explore what GNUstep is about (besides
being an API) and we need a bigger installed base in order to get more feedback
from users to make the software better. But words alone do not help...
I am therefore willing to spend some time to build&provide RPMs for the central
pieces which will make GNUSTEP/linux. Therefore I'd like to ask anyone who
'owns' a GNUstep software project which should become part of the core desktop
to provide me (privately) with
o pointers to the recent sources or
o Linux x86 RPMs (and/or source RPMs)
o the permission to use the stuff for this desktop initiative
If somebody would like to volunteer and provide a 'port' for *BSD or an other
system later one, please contact me. This will become interesting soon I guess.

[1]: I am not talking about a GNUstep distro here, what I mean is a set of
distro independent RPMs which can be downloaded from a central place
and be installed on a working Linux system in a few steps only. I'd like
to start something similar here as GNOME did a few years ago.
