Redhat does not run sourceware.org at all. The people who run it are all volunteers, most are not Redhat employees any more. Redhat donates the machine and bandwidth
for the free source projects.

Yes at one point sourceware was run by cygnus/redhat but that point has passed
a long time ago when the people running it, left redhat.
Here are lists of projects which use sourceware already:
GCC
GDB
glibc
binutils
automake
mauve
newlib (not part of the GNU project)
ecos (just became part of GNU project)
cygwin

And many more, see http://sourceware.org/projects.html.

Note that references redhat but it has not been true for a while
and just nobody has updated it yet.
