I like it -- that's how I'd do it. Just one slight change I would make is make the categories the first choice user makes, or at least more exposed; I haven't noticed them upon first look.

PS: the only thing that I am not happy is that it is written in PHP and not using GSWeb

(http://wiki.gnustep.org/index.php/GNUstepWeb). But I have zero experience in that.

And a major hurdle is to install it on the gnustep.org server wehich is not maintained by us.
