Hi John,
There's not really anything 'new' in .NET that isn't
already being done in other venues. MS's has just
discovered it all as hype fuel. What you ask for is
being done, in manyfold different ways, without the
hype. There's DotGNU, Jabber, Globus, PHP to mention
just a few.
