I suspect that the "current gtk" support will disappear before the Lucid
support, since the Lucid support is still AFAIK the only one that
supports having frames on multiple X servers.

I also suspect that the "current gtk" support can disappear as soon as
the "pgtk" port is marked non-experimental, hence soon, e.g. it could be
gone for Emacs-29.
