Please don't over-dramatize.  No one is "wetting any knives" here, we are just 
talking.  If you followed the discussion, supplanting Texinfo is nowhere in 
sight yet.  This is Emacs, not GCC.

And yes, this discussion should move to the Texinfo list, as has been suggested 
already.
