I see there has been some discussion as to if it's useful to register an
official org in Canada. Normally I would say no, but for the sort of stuff
that sfconservancy does, then a formal org is necessary, if that's something
in our future.
One thing I don't see discussed anywhere, but that I'm curious to other's
opition's on, is the connection to GNU. The FSF has, IMO, been a little to
"married" to GNU in the past. This is understandable, since RMS started
them both, but has lead to some amount of weakening of the FSF's ability to
represent/advocate *all* Free Software. So, while I have no problem
connection with FSF and supporting their efforts (DFD, etc), it seems a good
idea (to me) to keep any FSF.ca efforts seperate from GNU (not to be against
GNU, just not to be tied directly to it in any way more than any other Free
Software project).
Just my thoughts :)
