HEAD wasn't changed.  It worked.

I propose to rerelease the tarball, but not silently.
Packagers of source distributions like gentoo have to know.

Together with a note on who must update the tarball:
People with non i686 architecture and people whose
aclocal directory path is not in /usr/local/share/aclocal .

We can change the line in configure.in to: CXXFLAGS="-O3 $CXXFLAGS"


ps:
I just tried:
# CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=i686 $CXXFLAGS"
It works.  But I don't like it.

Why should we default our tarball to intel32 processors?
We're trying hard to reduced dependency and than boldly demand
intel processors !
Everyone who wants faster code should configure it for himself.
An AMD user isn't automatically more familiar with open source software.
