No, "tip" is not a branch name.  It is the tag of the most recent revision
in a repository.  Especially, there is always exactly one revision called
"tip" in a repository.  A branch will consists of many revisions.
There is no standard branch name in mercurial, because
multiple branches per repository are a relatively new feature in mercurial.
