I was trying to limit my points, but this is very true. My main archive gets replicated to three or four locations nightly, and about four others manually.

In my CVS days, I had alarms that would go off periodically to remind me to make some manual backups of the system. I had a nightly cron job that would rsync my repository to one system and tar it up, but this was the equivalent of offline backups. It was there in case something went terribly wrong.

I tend to mirror everywhere, and since there's no real distinction between a mirror and a backup, I backup everywhere.
