I recently saw a message on the gcc lisp suggesting they automatically
create a build directory (instead of building in the source tree), and
the writer's suggested name was "-build" (I oughta suggest "+build" I
suppose)!!!

Because it happens so rarely, when it _does_ happen, it causes no end of
confusion.

tla is already fairly well prepared for this actually; many commands
that accept filenames also either require "--" as a separator (which is
good for another reason -- it forces people to get used to using it!) or
use a command-line syntax that avoids any ambiguity by putting version
arguments before the filename (e.g. tla get).
