Have you ever tried to buy a newspaper without a sports section or not
subscribe to a single cable channel? The simple fact is that it is
frequently more efficient to bundle things together. You *get* a vendor
branch, essentially for free, when you do an import. You don't have to
use it, and no one is trying to make you use it; feel free to complete
ignore it. You can even delete the tags if it offends you so much. For
that matter, you can use cvs admin to switch the default branch to the
trunk and remove the revisions on the vendor branch if you really want
to remove all traces of it. But there's no good reason to -- just
ignore it.
