Agree, this can be really useful. Some small libs can be created as
static to be included in shared lib later. W32 have no problem at all if
same static lib is included in several shared libs and in application at
the same time. If this can't be enabled by default, could we add some
(configure, LTLDFLAGS?) flag to enable this functionality? I can provide
patch.
