Ok in 2.23.6, it works! I have to put the font into the share/lilypond/2.23.6/fonts/otf folder but the font does change and I don't get the seg fault. 

However... unfortunately... Edition Engraver does not work with 2.23.6, so I'm kinda back to square one on the main file (I've been experimenting with a test file). 

That being said, I'm going to see if there is an intervening version that works with both. Fingers crossed!

Indeed, if it prevails with the MacPOrts version, it might be the architecture.
