No, this is not a 32/64-bit issue, since the official binaries of recent
versions are all 64-bit, including on macOS.

If you type "~/Downloads/lilypond-2.23.14/bin/lilypond" in a terminal,
what does it give?

Also, how did you install Frescobaldi? Is it the latest version?
