Do you think I could use this feature to have the Monotone
server started by xinetd? If I can start a server saying
"use fd 0 to read from", then that should be possible,
shouldn't it?

It should, try

  monotone -db=... -- serve - <branches>

But only _one_ client can access the db at a time!
