Off the cuff thought: CVS repositories don't have unique names anyway.
Would it make more sense for cvssync to store a nickname for the repo,
and then at cvs_{push,pull} time one can figure out the mapping from
nickname to an actual access method?
This mapping could be cached in a db var, similar to the default
netsync server stuff.
The nickname could have a simple default, so that if one only ever
uses a single cvs server for a branch family (as is by far the more
common case), then one never needs to specify a nickname, or even know
that the nickname exists.

Sentience can be such a burden.
