Maybe more generally, look at the rather simple graphs in gitk (and
similar things), and the things Wim Oudshoorn looked at with kinds of
graph reduction

and see if they'd make sense. That's a bit open-ended, I guess.
I could imagine it making sense to have automate commands to output
the kinds of information that something could use to draw gitk-like
graphs, for example. That would be cool for anything that wanted to
show history (so Trac, obviously, but maybe also Eclipse?).
