Follow-up Comment #32, bug #59206 (project octave):

I am pretty sure Haswell is a superset of Core2Duo (that I have), so I
strongly suspect it is a bug in 0.3.10 that causing that issue. 

John, what is your gcc compiler version? There were few compiler bugs in the
past when it would issue instructions set present in the host even when asked
not too. But then it is hard to understand why would it crash Haswell, but not
Core2Duo.

As far as I know Piledriver CPU has   TBM (Trailing Bit Manipulation)
instruction set that no-one else has.
