Follow-up Comment #13, bug #61788 (project octave):

Extending ranges to integers has been really problematic.  I would support
cutting that back to just floating point.  For one thing, I think these are
the most common so if an 80/20 rule (See Pareto Principle) applies here we
will get most of the benefits (80%) by having code for 20% of the cases.
