I just rebuilt and on Linux (Mageia 8) it looks all right now - dock sizes &
positions and column sizes are preserved. I'm cross-building now, will take a
few hours.
I'll report later how the fix here behaves on Windows.

The slowly creeping up separators between vertically stacked docked widgets
(and column widths) may well date back to around the time of the fix of bug
#60646. But ISTR that Kai reported in another bug  report (IIRC about
horizontal docked widgets positions) that it was failing for him much longer.
