You can extract .tar file with the command:
tar -xf pingus-0.6.0-binary-linux-i386.tar
or unbzip and untar tar.bz2 file in one command:
tar -zxf pingus-0.6.0-binary-linux-i386.tar.gz
but maybe just hitting enter on the file within Midnight Commander (file
manager program) is much simplier.
If you have downloaded staticaly linked binary
http://pingus.seul.org/files/pingus-0.6.0-binary-linux-i386.tar.bz2,
then all you need is to extract it to a directory of choose and then run
"pingus" binary.
