Yep, that's what I discovered, too.  Though, I have this really bad habit of 
leaving out those vital pieces of information..  don't worry, it's a bug and 
not a feature ;)

Yes, you (Laurence) need to commit a .symlinks in 3dldf's webcvs file of the 
form (iirc):

  syslink-parent symlink-child
