The architecture is the same. SD also, however I built it from the
source on Ubuntu, while it is installed via deb packages on my GRML
machine.
Espeak is 1.38 on Ubuntu, and about an hour ago I updated Espeak on GRML
to 1.38.03. And it seems as if I've to withdraw my judgement in the
latest mail. Since the update I use alsa as SD output method without a
crash. But I suggest to observe this for a longer time to finally judge,
whether the update fixed the crash really.

I often did so, but unfortunately I get compatibility issues with other
programs, such as mplayer. But besides that, libasound 1.0.15 is stable.
