On a guess I'd say at peak about 40 connections per minute. Usually I see 
between 2 and 10 people at one time.

I tried 1.4.2 which is what we were using on the old server, had the same 
issue, went to 1.5.2 and had the same problem, then tried the CVS version, 
which is what I have running still.
