BTW, to the extent the Debian packaging is accepted, an rpm can be
made from it with the program 'alien'.

Of course, we might get one of the energetic maxima lisp hackers to
write a c++2cl a la f2cl which they used to compile parts of slatec
into lisp maxima -- anyone for a lisp Magnus project? :-).  I fully
realize this suggestion is just short of ridiculous -- for humor value
only!
