Hi Benno,
By the way, why is texindex.awk in SVN when it is a generated file?
I don't subscribe to the theory that absolutely nothing generated should
be in version control. I want to make it easier for people to
contribute by, e.g., building out of the development repository. So
some derived things are committed (which some people dislike) and other
derived things are omitted (which other people dislike). It is the best
practical balance I've been able to strike (at the risk of having
something which everyone dislikes).
By the way, many packages, when I've changed a .po file, only require
running 'make' in the main directory in order to regenerate (msgfmt)
I am under the likely misguided impression that we are using gettext and
automake and ... in the recommended ways. At least, I've expended
considerable effort in that regard. So if something else should be done
(which I don't doubt), I need pointers/details.
best,
karl
