Does it work with GCJ?

And there is that issue that GNU has a standard for build
procedures and it uses automake/autoconf not ANT.
For better or worse ... there are some setups around
that know how to switch betwen GCJ/JDK/... but they
didn't look quite as simple as what I'd want.
