I'm not sure what you mean by an "HTTP portfile" repo, you can use svn
as well that works over HTTP.
I'm talking about hosting portfiles on a regular HTTP server. From what I gathered, portfiles are commonly rsync'd to the local machine; I don't know how to nicely set up a collection of portfiles on an HTTP servers that can easily be "port selfupdate"'d to the local machine.
Hosting on SVN is also a good solution for me, since I have an SVN server set up already.
Rather than setting up a new repository you may want to have the your
patch merged on MP's repository, if so file a ticket on the Trac
system [1] using the "haspatch" keyword and attaching the relative
diff file.
Someone, will test the patch and commit to svn; the rsync repository
is refreshed every twelve hours. If you want feel free to assign it to
me and I'll do the review.
In the meanwhile I'm going to try the patch you provided in your dropbox space.
I'd be very interested in something like this, but I wanted to have a sort-of-a-bleeding edge set of packages that I could safely play with, deploy to other people and see what happens, without affecting the stuff in macports. I haven't updated the files in Dropbox with gnustep-back patch that Eric has provided in this thread.
