BTW, for those who have problems with a Pioneer DVD-R writer under Linux
with DMA turned on (like me): The upcoming 2.4.21 kernel contains a newly
implemented IDE subsystem which appears to solve these problems (it does
solve them for me).
Right now 2.4.21 is only available as a "release candidate" patch, which
must be applied against the 2.4.20 kernel source tree. You can download
both from http://www.kernel.org/, but if you don't know how to patch and
compile your own kernel, you'd better wait for the release of 2.4.21.
