Huzzah!  That would be the direction of a win-win outcome as far as I
can see.

I said earlier that you are (wrt to the umask issue on whatever OSU
systems we're talking about) between a rock and a hard place.  That's
a one-dimensional constraint and that leaves 3 additional dimensions
in which to look for degrees of freedom, which you have now done.
