[Gnu-arch-users] [BUG] feature plan -- downstream branches

The ':' character should be permitted in branch names but
have a slightly special meaning.

A branch name of the form:

        PREFIX:SUFFIX

is the name of a branch which is said to have a "downstream name"
relative to a branch named PREFIX.

The longest PREFIX for which the new branch has a downstream name is
said to have "the immediate upstream name" of the new branch.

For example:

        branch name immediate upstream name

        tla--devo:selected-commit--1.3 tla--devo--1.3
        tla--devo:ssh--1.3 tla--devo--1.3
        tla--devo:ssh:bugs--1.3 tla--devo:ssh--1.3

Most commands that list branches should, by default, suppress any
output for : branches. With an option, : branches should be
printed.
