    Given that Emacs is used primarily by digerati, I would hope that this 
wouldn't
     be *NEWS* to anybody.

That sort of reason is never valid.  If you move in circles where
people follow such things, you will surely overestimate how much they
are known.  It never hurts to spread the word!
