Hi Thilo,

I installed gnue on a openSuse 10.2 machine today. And everything worked fine.

I used the following steps:

1. Install the suse packages: python-devel, python-mx-base, python-wxGTK
2. Downloaded of last nightly snapshots (the tar.gz files)
3. Unpacked the snapshots
4. In gnue-common-0.6.7+svn.9426 I called "python setup.py install --prefix=/opt/gnue"
5. In gnue-forms-0.6-alpha3+svn.9429 done a "python setup.py install"
6. Copyed the file gnue-common.../etc/sample.connection.conf to /etc/opt/gnue/connection.conf
7. Changed the servername to point to my local appserver
6. Then I called gnue-forms with the following commandline "gnue-forms -ui wx sample.gfd"

I don't understand why forms behaves so different on your machines.

I wonder whether there would be an easy way in your distribution to
switch to Python 2.4, which might solve a lot of problems until we can
test better with 2.5. I don't want you (as a new GNUe user) to serve as
our crush zone against a new Python version.

I tested gnue on an SuSE Linux 10.0 machine (python 2.4.1), and I got more or less the same errors for the different -u UIdriver settings ("None Type" object has no attribute "_wrapper")
.
On which distribution are you running gnue? Is it always so difficult to get it running?

Sorry for the hassle.

No problem

Thilo
