Hmm, nnir does support IMAP searching, though. I use it all the
time! Maybe your IMAP server doesn't have a very efficient
searching mechanism?
Or, perhaps you don't have a new enough version of nnir? I think
the version in gnus cvs contrib works fine with IMAP searching.
