They double-click it, and it opens a web browser pointing to the
relevant "newbie guide to lilypond-friendly text editors" html
page on the website.  Or probably a local copy thereof, in case
their internet connection is down.

Yes, some people might complain about the "additional software".
So we include info about using textedit/notepad to write files.
