Hmm, my understanding is that different people have different
experiences here :-).

In any case, monotone very much aims for minimalness, and this sort of
thing is unquestionably a lot of extra stuff to document and for users
to hold in their heads.  Our goal is more to squeeze maximum
functionality out of minimum concepts, so, my question for you:

What does a config spec give you that just making a branch doesn't?
E.g., I can have a branch that only modifies a few files as compared
to its parent branch, I can see what files those are by doing a diff
against the latest branchpoint, and so on... is it more convenient
somehow, does it give you more features?  If you let us know, maybe we
can steal the ideas :-).
