Follow-up Comment #129, bug #54235 (project octave): "I think the next step should be to try and move up to gcc 5." I don't mind trying that if you think it will help. It's just really slow. The bottleneck appears to be opencsw's download speeds. It literally takes two hours just to get the gcc package from them.
