Follow-up Comment #130, bug #54235 (project octave): As I recall, the code for arithmetic on int64 types relies on some bit-twiddling code written by the same person who wrote the bit-flipping code to test the BLAS library for 4- or 8-byte integers. My guess is that it doesn't do the right thing on big-endian systems. You didn't really get very far into the tests before the crash happened in the syscalls test.
