Follow-up Comment #8, bug #58004 (project octave):
I can reproduce it in Octave 5.2.0 or 7.0.0 on Debian, io package version
2.6.1, Xerces2 version 2.12.1, OpenJDK version 11.0.7+9.
I'm only here to confirm the error, and offer myself as a test case for any
possible fixes. I don't really use the io package or need this function, just
here to help if I can.
