Follow-up Comment #13, bug #58004 (project octave):

Dennis, TTBOMK in Windows this has never been a problem. I've only heard of
these segfaults / hangs occurring on Linux systems, and then only some (but
widely used) distros.

BTW, maybe setting "visible", "off" somewhere in the demo can help avoid the
figure popups.

The link that Dmitri posted is quite an illustrative one (thanks Dmitri!).
While a very strictly _typed_ language, the way Java has been _applied_
unfortunately hasn't been so strictly "managed". That in contrast to C/C++
where developers seem to stick much more to conventions.
