Follow-up Comment #12, bug #58004 (project octave):

I have repeated the test of Philip up to ii==770 without any error
(configuration as per #3) and then aborted because the figure popping up
started to become annoying. No errors caused. I am running this on a HP
EliteBook x360 1030 G2 with SSD.

In addition to Philip's suggestion, I am wondering whether this may be related
to the OS being used. Mike and Dmitri, do you have the possibility to repeat
the test with the same configuration on the same machine in e.g. a Windows
environment?
