Follow-up Comment #9:

"make_absolute" seems to work just as well in that case (and I hope it will be
more performant).

I pushed the change on stable because I hope it is save and might improve
overall performance on Windows:

@anonymous: A nightly build from tomorrow 2020/Dec/22 or later should include
that change. You could download it from Kai's buildbot:
