Hi,

I've followed the progress of plex86/freemware from the early days as a
lurker.

Recently there seems to be a trend towards lightweight solutions instead
of full-blown virtualisation etc.

I had an idea that might make it possible to switch between two OSs on
one machine, which would run both OSs at full speed with no compromises
over hardware access. It should enable windows games (for example) to be
runnable. I wanted to mention it on list because I think people here are
knowledgable and would know if there is some 'obvious' reason why it
would not work.

Anyway here's the idea. Many machines can be suspended through the BIOS,
either to RAM or to disk. The linux BIOS project is a replacement BIOS
which could be modified at will. I wonder if it is possible to suspend
the state of the machine and resume to another state. Rather than
running concurrently, you would switch slowly between one OS and
another. But no reboots, and you get full hardware access...

What do you think? Is it possible?
