   Are you using ratpoison out of CVS?

Mmhm, updated pretty recently anyway. (It might be nice to have
ratpoison -c version or ratpoison -c license print out a date like
emacs-version does, so I could easily tell exectly when I built it.)

   The following works on my box:

   C-t : escape F6

   and

   $ ratpoison -c "escape F6"

   Can you try with a default keymapping?

It does work for me then; I know that if I run

 exec xmodmap /Users/arided/.ibook.hopestone

in my .ratpoisonrc after running

 escape F6

F6 works fine with the ibook keyboard. Its only switching between
the two set ups that cause something in the computer to get
confused.

   Perhaps it's funkiness with your modmap?

If you mean the way the modifiers are mapped, here's the printout:

IB :=

shift       Shift_L (0x40),  Shift_R (0x44)
lock        Caps_Lock (0x3d)
control     Control_L (0x1c),  Control_L (0x43),  Control_R (0x21),  Control_R
(0x46)
mod1        Mode_switch (0x1f),  Mode_switch (0x22)
mod2        Meta_L (0x1d),  Meta_L (0x24),  Meta_L (0x3f)
mod3        Hyper_L (0x1a),  Hyper_L (0x42),  Hyper_L (0x45),  Hyper_L (0x7a),
Hyper_R (0x23)
mod4        Super_L (0x1b),  Super_L (0x47),  Super_R (0x25)
mod5        Alt_R (0x20)

KI :=

shift       Shift_L (0x40),  backslash (0x44)
lock
control     Control_L (0x83),  Control_R (0x6a),  Control_R (0x85)
mod1        Mode_switch (0x2c),  Mode_switch (0x7d)
mod2        Meta_L (0x84),  Meta_L (0x86)
mod3        Hyper_L (0x3a),  Hyper_L (0x47),  Hyper_R (0x26)
mod4        Super_L (0x46),  Super_L (0x7a),  Super_R (0x29)
mod5        Alt_L (0x6f),  Alt_L (0x7f)

Some of this stuff does look a bit excessive and a little weird.
But not sure how it would cause the problems I saw.

Joe
