I put the deffont statement in my .ratpoison file because it was
documented as an available command:

and, also used in some example .ratpoisonrc files:

In any case, using the colon command : set font does not change the
font either on the XO. There are known issues with font handling on
the XO and I might have to just wait until these are resolved.
